What forward-deployed engineering really means

CoMavenAI is a forward-deployed engineering firm.

The phrase sounds fancy. The work is not.

Our engineers embed with your team while we build. They join your Slack or Teams and work in Jira, Linear, or whatever system your team already uses. We are not precious about tools.

But the tools are not the point.

The point is getting close to the people who know how the business actually works.

The dispatcher who knows which orders always go sideways. The controller who can tell you which invoices get disputed and why. The ops lead who has a workaround for everything because nobody ever fixed the underlying problem.

Software built without those people is a guess.

In my experience, the real requirements rarely live in a document. They live with the people doing the work. They come out when an engineer is in the room, asking why, watching the job get done, and seeing where the process breaks.

That takes more than a kickoff call and a spec. We need a seat at the table for the whole build.

Once an engineer has watched your team fight a broken process for an afternoon, the initial request starts to look different. They stop building what was asked for and start building what is needed.

Those are rarely the same thing.

The work moves faster too. Questions get answered while the context is still fresh. Every week, we put working software in front of the people who will use it and let their feedback shape what comes next.

That same proximity creates accountability.

A status report cannot tell you whether the system works. The people doing the job can.

We stay through go-live. We measure the before and after. We stand behind the result.

That is what serving a client means to us. Working systems in about 90 days, built with your experts instead of around them.

If AI should be doing more inside your business than it currently is, I'd like to hear what's getting in the way.
